Vintage Kokeshi Doll by Kokeshi artist Ogura Kyutaro (小椋久太郎) in 1987, when he was 82 years old, making this doll about 37 years old. Mr. Ogura was born in Akita, Japan, and learned woodcraft from his father at age 13. By 15, he was already making Kokeshi dolls. He worked as a woodturner, managed a pond, and even hunted bears to support his family. Despite modern advances, he crafted his dolls under oil lamps, gaining recognition for his skill. His son Koichi Ogura and grandson Toshiaki Ogura continued his legacy. This Kijiyama-style Kokeshi doll is larger and heavier than typical ones. It features an egg-shaped head, an apron with chrysanthemum patterns, and a unique facial expression. The back bears the artist’s signature, location (Akita), and his age (82) at creation. This vintage Kokeshi doll is in great condition but has natural fading and minor scratches.⭐ Please Do NOT clean the doll with water, wet towels, or hands, as colors are non-waterproof. ⭐Size: 13.7" : Weight: 58.6 oz
