Vintage Chinese Buddhist carved olive pit hedaio prayer beads. Acquired from a private estate collection, these religious beads are hand-carved from olive pits and feature the faces of the 18 Lohan or Arhats—the original followers of Gautama Buddha who have attained enlightenment. Each face is unique and some have a mouth that has been carved open. 20 beads total. Each bead measures approximately 1” length and 0.5” width. Excellent pre-owned condition.
