This is an authentic letter written by 17th Century French Philosopher Pierre Bayle signed in his hand in 1671. The letter is written in Middle French. I did have it translated by a professional acquaintance of mine who teaches medieval world languages at the university level. The letter content itself talks about the need for change of the human spirit and existence to one of purpose. The letter is written on hand laid paper and in iron gall ink and is correct for the time period. You are buying what is pictured. I have had this authenticated and has been in my personal collection for many years. This is an absolutely exquisite example of 17th Century Pre Age of Enlightenment work. It is double sided and can be framed if desired.
