Set of 4 Bakelite snack set plates. Germany 1922 - 1926. No chips or cracks. In the 1920's when Bakelite was getting big, the Germans were producing this stuff in huge amounts. But all of it was individual sets. So each set is, very literally, one-of-a-kind. The color is called Lava. I took photos of the front and back of each plate, so you can see the color variation in each one. These were professionally appraised by Jake at PawnStar, but because this is such a one-of-a-kind item, there was no real way to get similar comps to compare them to. Jake had literally never seen anything like this before. He had to call other appraisers in, and eventually got a hold of an appraiser in Germany who knew precisely what they were. Based on Jake's evaluation, and the appraiser in Germany, they settled on an appraised value of $1100 - $1200 for the set. I'm not that greedy. I acquired these from an antique dealer who was going out of business. These were in his personal collection.
