Patrick Nagel's contemporary prints famously combine Japanese woodblock and Art Deco styles, using bold, dark lines to shape perspective, and cool, bold, matte color that contrasts dark and white spaces. Some describe his sensual, stylized, confident women as fantasy realism, and they define an iconic era in prints that began with Toulouse Lautrec and Alberto Vargas' pin-up girl posters. Nagel became famous for his illustrations in Playboy and Architectural Digest, and his 1983 Duran Duran album cover on what became the number one record in the world. After his untimely death at 38, a series of 15 limited edition commemorative prints were produced and sold by Mirage Editions. Commemorative Nagel CN11 is 1 of 15 commemoratives that I purchased new in the 1980s. It is in excellent condition. Has miniscule wrinkles at top corners (see photos). It's been stored flat with acid-free paper for 30+ years. Dimensions: 24"W x 36"H
