In Victorian times a specific utensil was designed for every dining experience. This particular piece was likely used for serving fine pastries in a prestigious home of the period. This vintage has an 800 silver (similar to sterling) handle as shown in the markings and weighs 3.5 pounds. The serving section is brass or a gold overlay. It was crafted by Bruckmann & Söhne, in Heilbronn, Germany. Bruckmann, whose insignia was a crescent moon and crown (shown in the markings) was renowned for manufacturing exquisite silverware. This piece has been extremely well-cared for and is in excellent condition for a piece of this vintage.
