Ed Hicks is an oil-painter who sees New England's landscape just a little differently. He looks beneath the surface, concentrating on the essentials, eliminating the superficial. "Simply put, my paintings are the not-so-simple mixture of the colors and textures of the paints with my emotions." A graduate of The Vesper George School of Art, Boston, Massachusetts, he has been greatly influenced by the 19th Century American and European impressionists. His paintings - which have been recognized with numerous prizes and awards in juried shows - are included in hundreds of private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad. He has given private lessons and demonstrations, and has been featured in a one-man show at the Ellsworth/Wiley Galleries, Simsbury, Connecticut.
