Museum Quality, Victorian Period, Looped Woven Hair Mourning, Sentiment, or Love Token Brooch. Measuring 7/8" x 1 3/4" x 1/2" deep, with T-Hinge and C-Clasp which date this piece to the 1860-1880 Victorian Era. Constructed of double-looped, open weave, table worked, brown hair with gold-filled end caps, and center scroll cartouche, then mounted on a gold-filled pin back base. This type of sentiment, love-token brooch kit was featured in A. Bernhard & Co. Catalogue, 1870 PAGE 16 of Victorian hair jewelry: bracelets and brooches.
