Ewer Meriden Britannia Company 1861 Design Vertically Challenged Water Pitcher This is one of the items in Meriden Britannia’s 1861 collection, a small water pitcher. I believe it was made in the 180s-90s. The condition of this antique pieces is very good as there is wear on the sides of the silverplate, it is rubbed down but not peeling and the insides show wear. No bare spots, never monogrammed. The Meriden Britannia Company was established in 1852 in Meriden, Connecticut. It focused on producing wares made of Britannia metal, a metal similar to pewter with a lustrous and silvery sheen. The company also produced sterling silver and silver-plated wares of exceptional quality. By 1984, silverware production in Meriden ended. We do not alter any items sold; they are listed the way they were found. We get the dust and dirt off, but all serious cleaning and repairs are the decision of the purchaser
