A unique shaped 8” round bowl (BATEA) would be lovely decor for any home or as a one-of-a-kind gift. Estate sale piece. This bowl with Pressed Flowers was handmade by a garden enthusiast & artisan. I was told this piece came from a woman from New Mexico who grows the flowers in her home garden, picks them once they bloom, and dries them in old fashioned yellow phone books until she artfully places them one by one, onto each individual bowl/platter. Once she lays out her design, she coats it in several layers of epoxy or resin. The process results are stunning, with one of a kind artisan bowls. The back sticker says it is a New Mexican “Batea Redon”—Bateas are traditionally shallow wooden trays or bowls, often used for washing gold or as decorative pieces. “This batea” is a modern take on the traditional craft, using resin to preserve the delicate flowers.
